RAMM: THE HUMAN POWERED CONCRETE MIXER

Problem Statement

Our team worked with Global Architecture Brigades to design a better method of mixing concrete on construction sites in resource-limited areas of Latin America.

Previously, the workers merely mixed concrete in a hole in the ground. It required a great deal of physical effort, was time-consuming and lost water to ground absorption.

Our design consists of wooden mixer, a drum to mix concrete in and a wooden stand that tilts backwards to tip the concrete out. It can be made using hand tools and the few materials that workers on these sites are limited to.
