SWITCH ACTIVATED TOY

Problem Statement

We worked with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago to build a toy for a boy with limited motor control.

The user needed to repeatedly press a switch up to 50 times a day, a boring and repetitive task for any child. The toy needed to be entertaining to encourage him to continue his therapy.

In order to incorporate the boy’s love of baseball into his therapy, we modified a wiffle ball launcher to be switch operated. The launcher shot balls into a catcher while producing lights and sounds with each switch press.
